Do The Evolution

In 2011 I took one of my favorite boards and decided to take a saw and literally cut its tail.
That was probably the beginning of all this. Then I made a similar shape as that one using a kind of tail coming from a sexy board from Lost. The board I made was about 217x 57. It worked pretty well and it's still ripping well today. I made a lot of these shapes and many people were amazed on them.
Later, a shaper called Tomo made something really different to anything before and changed everything. But in the end, it was something somehow similar of what I was looking for. A couple of years ago I tried a few prototypes, similar to his "vanguard" boards (that's the name he used). But I thought it was too radical for windsurfing, so I tried to keep the good things we discovered and pass them to my compact shapes. Recently there are some famous brands doing these shapes (too late). These boards work pretty well on their conditions, normally made for poor conditions, and not really goof for big waves. So I decided to step further and try a kind of tail I tried in the past which works quite good when waves are bigger, but it needed some tunning. So

I made a very short and wide board but this time a double wing tail, very deep, which gives a lot of drive and control on medium to big size waves, but I can also close the space of that tail, with a removable piece and use the same board also in small waves.
I'm pretty sure this will be the most versatile shape ever.

Will see how much they take to make a copycat...

CNC

I've been shaping four foams today, and it took me about 6 hours or so. In all this hours, in the meantime, you have time to focus yourself in what you're doing and even so to think about other matters as just the entertainment to do it .
Everybody, every time, everywhere,..., is always telling me to get a cad machine for my workshop, and I always answer the same excuses, as I have no room enough, or it doesn't save me much time, ..., well, actually I have no money for buying it, but also I really enjoy shaping. That's probably the best part of making a board, and honestly, I don't want to loose it.
It's true that a cad machine not only save your time, but also give you the possibility to control every single measure of the shape, you can control the volume properly and even can help you making the holes for reinforcements.
But I like shaping.
Does anybody figure giving a camera to Velazquez saying: forget about your pen, you can take a picture with this device and it's the same, and even more exact, and more details.
Yes, could be...
BUT I LIKE SHAPING.
